Brief Biography

Solomon Ortiz is currently the Dean of the Texas Democratic Delegation (Most Senior Member of the Texas Democratic Delegation), Dean of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (Most Senior Member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus), Co-Chair of the Border Caucus, Chair of the House Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee and a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

This is his 28th year in the House of Representatives. Elected to Congress in 1982, he has been re-elected each subsequent time. He is currently serving his 14th term in the House of Representatives and is one of the most senior Members of Congress.
